About Us
Established in 2013, Social Procurement Australasia is a volunteer-led organisation that brings together practitioners, governments, businesses, researchers, and community organisations committed to harnessing procurement’s power as a force for positive social change.
We raise awareness, connect practitioners with the best research and resources, and advocate for and champion the advancement of social procurement practices across Australia and New Zealand.
The key objectives of SPA are to:
Provide a collaborative vehicle that supports thought leadership and demonstrates best practice
Advocate and promote the benefits of social procurement to Government and other Stakeholders to strengthen policy and practice and enhance funding and support for the social procurement ecosystem
Streamline information sources to support understanding and effective social procurement delivery through the creation of a ‘creative commons’ for content
Establish a Learning Forum: Creating a platform for stakeholders to build skills, share good practices, and exchange experiences in social procurement.
Identify and share success factors: Partner to support research, documentation, and communication of key enablers for effective social procurement implementation.
How we work:
Operating as an unincorporated association, SPA brings together members’ contributions of time and funding to co-design resources, deliver workshops and host conferences. Our agile network model ensures we stay responsive to emerging needs in the field.
